Every high and every low Mix it and match it You are better than all I don't mind it being scandalous Give me that can can  Maybe i can take you to cancun Spray that sun on your bum bum Caressing your frame As the waves land ashore Your curves are boom boom All I wanna spray is wow! You got me frenzied  Working on this piece crazy You are devastatingly gorgeous Its just so unlawful Popos are so dumb dumb I lost them in this art

"There are days..." PART 2

Days I see…. Your dazzling smile That beautiful curve That makes my head spin That gives me a high Leaves me with ecstasy Intoxicating… There are days…. Your silhouette lingers Just a little longer It keeps me sane In those hazy days when You being far from me Clouds me There are days I…. I hear your laughter Automatic memories of you Merge into a psychedelic dance Mirroring a feather dance In the wind

Sparkie

Your eyes are hypnotic As two moonbeams Perched across darker skies They glow brilliantly Alluring they are Gently drawing you in Sigh… only mine eyes Seem to understand The pull of their gravity The gravity of their beauty Tempted to pour my heart out Inspired by your sparkling eyes Am taken in Such heartfelt candour Quite unheard of Their gaze slips through my armor Like a missile You blow me away Knowing my core will break There will be a breach I will stare from a far At those sparkling  eyes

ingratious

Ingratious was a sickling he had no inkling To thoughts rekindling Kindness shown to him Mercy that freely flowed That carried his flaws That bore his shame A great sacrifice Crowned with thorns He now frowns upon He could neither embrace Nor displace the light For it shone plainly With clarity With certainty Neither could he fail to ignore To hearken to the voice That spoke him free Blind and deaf He chose to be To ignore this great love This amazing grace Damned ingratious ‘he can do it on his own’ Damned ingratious he can’t save himself

Cactus' sun

Cactus held a jar tightly With his face full of glee He couldn’t flee Or hide his passion Today he was on a mission To catch the sun Cactus drifted out far in thought Will the big jar be enough? He measured the jar Opening and closing the lid Fogging the inside Cleaning it squeaky clean Humming “my sun” Cactus was running late Cactus needed to get there Where the sky opened up Where the golden rays… Those blissful rays…. Didn’t last that long He held his jar up With bated breath Waiting……

Return

Its 12 am as i pick my pen to write on this blog for the first time this year. It feels good to be back. "life is an adventure" I have heard it many times.  At the end of last year I took a break. I watched helplessly as death took a piece of me...that's when life becomes unfair. There was sadness...that a pen would not write over. So a sudden demise of a close relative changes your perspective.I went through all the motions of grieving: from shock, denial, anger and finally acceptance. If there is one thing we shouldn't loose is hope. I know i will see her again cause death has been conquered. During this period I have learned that life is a gift. Treasure each moment. Take a risk in life and one of my favorite quotes sums it all "To triumph without risk is to triumph without glory". During a vacation somewhere near the Kenyan-Somali boarder along a coastal shore; that point was hammered home by an adventurist. I was offered a free kite surf and I declined...

Moth dance

It took a flicker And we quickly fluttered We were drawn By the bright lights The intermittent glow More like a pulse A rhythm A hung beat box Booming We nodded our wings And numbed our antennas We were warned The dance will consume us Our wings will get a mind of their own We won’t stop Once the beat was in us We couldn’t beat it out It wasn’t our fault It was too irresistible Too intoxicating We hung high and low Circling closer  So we  fell One by one Don’t get drawn in Stay away from them The bright flicking lights The ones that deceive you The ones that wear you down That burns your wings That brings an end to you Stay away from the moth dance

Chase

I won’t chase after….  Something elusive Something dismissive Something invasive That borders on the repulsive I won’t chase after toys Something coy A ploy That will make me burn like troy I won’t chase after… Something wickedly seductive That makes my emotions captive Derives pleasure in my pain I can’t chase fakes that break down Costly mistakes that bring a man down The stakes are high And down the stake you go

Pink You

He who breathes deepest lives most. - Elizabeth Barrett Browning I never do like feeling helpless. I like being in control especially of my emotions. The not being able to do anything bit is not in my cup of tea. As I was coming from work, I met one of my friends. She always has a smile on her face, big brown eyes and is one of the sweetest people I know. From a far I could tell she wasn’t okay. She did smile though…a faint one. She looked frail and was holding a brown pack of painkillers. She was from the chemist. I offered to take her home because she wasn’t looking good. On the way we chatted and I asked her what was up. She told me she was in pain and she had been in and out of hospital. They had run tests and she wasn’t getting better. She was finally diagnosed with lymphoma. I was taken aback. And I asked of all the people… why her? I felt helpless. There is a piece I did last year after one of my pals dared me to go pink. I know the pink ribbon is associated with ...

001

It has been a solid two months of posting and I want to thank those who have read every post! You know yourselves. Why saltedpen?   Salt adds flavor and preserves. Using the pen I want to bring about a change infused with those inherent qualities. Mathew 5:13 says it much better. History month was great but I do have to admit being confined to bounds of a theme did bring some sense of appreciation for structure (bound by this word…structure>>> follows me). The patience of writing, the beauty of it; the fact that it flows from a thought makes it so exciting. The final full stop leaves you with glee and even though you don’t know how it will end …..You write. It’s more like life. All the pieces may never seem to fit but when you reach the twilight, that’s when it starts to make sense. And through a pair of brand new eyes illuminated by God, you look at things differently. For the next posts will be theme free; unless there is one…anyone. T h ank you again for your reading...

ONE WAY

Wars have been fought Blood spilt All for vain glory Vaned arrows From longbowmen Piercing through Coats of mail Flurry of fury Beset By quenchless greed Unflinching apathy That cannot Placate and appease Neither pacify A fallen world On a hill Shouts a cross To an enslaved humanity For redemption For peace For love bled And paid the price
