Cactus held a jar tightly With his face full of glee He couldn’t flee Or hide his passion Today he was on a mission To catch the sun Cactus drifted out far in thought Will the big jar be enough? He measured the jar Opening and closing the lid Fogging the inside Cleaning it squeaky clean Humming “my sun” Cactus was running late Cactus needed to get there Where the sky opened up Where the golden rays… Those blissful rays…. Didn’t last that long He held his jar up With bated breath Waiting……

Laughter rent the air A perfect mix of sun and rain Glittering raindrops Children screaming Stomping on sun kissed puddles Driving tyre sticked Ferraris, BMWs, Mercedes With sound effects Mbrrr…nyeeeeee….pshhhhh Toys are us! All you needed was a little Imagination And the cars came to life Never mind the missing Iron coat hangers and patipati And all the rubber bands Ohh what fun The splashing and racing ‘Safarirary’ a muddy affair Dirt was good And Persil knew To those who made fun And still do

The clouds shifted seamlessly Making way for the sun A beautiful procession As it prepared To make the skies its possession An evil plot To capture the north To engulf it in darkness Through greyish clouds And stop the north Stop it from waking Stop it from rising Hatched by ‘mercurial’ minds That can only be scoffed at Threats of a shadow Conspiracy of fools For the sun will rise And there will be a dawn For the north
