Moth dance


It took a flicker
And we quickly fluttered
We were drawn
By the bright lights
The intermittent glow
More like a pulse
A rhythm
A hung beat box
Booming
We nodded our wings
And numbed our antennas

We were warned
The dance will consume us
Our wings will get a mind of their own
We won’t stop
Once the beat was in us
We couldn’t beat it out

It wasn’t our fault
It was too irresistible
Too intoxicating
We hung high and low
Circling closer 
So we  fell
One by one

Don’t get drawn in
Stay away from them
The bright flicking lights
The ones that deceive you
The ones that wear you down
That burns your wings
That brings an end to you
Stay away from the moth dance
